Dr. Sujesh developed a special interest in men’s sexual health and holds a Certificate in Andrology from the Society of Men’s Health, Singapore. He sees every patient personally — the same doctor from first consultation through to follow-up.
Testosterone deficiency — also called hypogonadism — is when the body produces little or no testosterone, and symptoms follow. Testosterone replacement therapy (TRT) is a long-established treatment for men who have both the symptoms and a confirmed low level on testing. Symptoms alone are not enough to make the diagnosis, because the same complaints are common to a number of other conditions.
Reduced sex drive and reduced erectile function.
Feeling very tired all the time, and symptoms of depression.
Loss of lean muscle mass, and weight gain.
Loss of body hair and reduced beard growth.
A private discussion with Dr. Sujesh about your symptoms, medical history and whether testosterone deficiency is likely.
Testosterone is measured from a blood sample, usually taken in the morning and repeated to confirm the result.
If deficiency is confirmed, the form of treatment and the dose are decided with you before anything is prescribed.
Levels and blood results are reviewed at follow-up, and the dose adjusted where needed.
Different symptoms respond at different speeds, and the response depends on how low your levels were to begin with. The following reflects what is generally observed, and Dr. Sujesh will give you a specific expectation after your assessment.

By blood test. The sample is usually taken in the morning and repeated to confirm the result. Symptoms on their own are not enough, because tiredness, low mood and reduced sex drive have a number of other causes that need to be ruled out first.
Not usually. The diagnosis is confirmed by blood test before anything is prescribed, so treatment normally begins once the results are back and discussed with you.
No. TRT restores testosterone to a normal range in men who are deficient, at a dose set against your blood results. Anabolic steroid use involves much higher doses in men whose levels are already normal, which is a different thing entirely and carries different risks.
Yes. TRT reduces sperm production, and for some men this takes time to recover after stopping. If you are planning to father children now or in the near future, tell Dr. Sujesh at consultation so that alternatives can be discussed.
There can be, which is why monitoring is part of treatment. Blood counts and prostate health are checked at review appointments. Risks and what to watch for are explained to you before you start.
For many men treatment continues while the deficiency and its symptoms are being managed. It is reviewed with you at follow-up rather than set indefinitely, and stopping is discussed the same way as starting.
Sexual interest and general quality of life often change first, within roughly 3–6 weeks. Changes to erections may take up to 6 months, and changes in muscle and bone develop over months.
